Terrorism Bill Update

NU Online News Service, Nov. 14, 12 p.m. EST, Washington? The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled early this afternoon to begin debate on a compromise bill that would establish a federal terrorism reinsurance backstop.

Speculation in Washington is that if the House manages to pass the bill today, that the U.S. Senate would follow suit, in part due to pressure brought by President George W. Bush, who has been pushing Congress since Election Day to get a measure into law before adjourning its lame duck session.
