MBA Program For RMs Wins Grant

NU Online News Service, Nov.6, 1:33.m. EST?The Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. announced it has awarded a $175,000 grant to Georgia State University for development of a "Mini-MBA" risk management program and five scholarships.

The funding will go to the Center for Enterprise Risk Management and Assurance Services Mini-MBA in enterprise risk management in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, the foundation said.

The CERMAS Mini-MBA in Enterprise Risk Management is designed to increase the depth of skills held by risk managers wishing for a greater role within their company.

"We are proud to be associated with Georgia State," said Richard Hackenburg, chairman of the Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. in New York.

The program will consist of 150 hours of in-class instruction time or five semester-long courses. Of the entire grant, $125,000 will support faculty and preparation time to develop the course. The remaining $50,000 will be split into five $10,000 scholarships for the initial pilot course participants, who will test the effectiveness of the course and provide feedback, the foundation said.
