Oliver Tops List Of PIA Awards
NU Online News Service, Oct. 3, 9:49 a.m. EST?The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents has announced the recipients of several special awards that were given out by the organization's board.
W.N. "Buddy" Oliver of Jackson, Miss., was recognized for his 45 years of service to the Alexandria, Va.-based association with a special presidential citation. He received the reward for "his dedication to government affairs and the association's political action committee."
Mr. Oliver is planning the association's 2003 federal legislative summit and will work to increase the association's PIAPAC contributions by 25 percent next year, said Steven J. Harter, PIA president in a statement.
Elizabeth B. "Liz" Luce, of Cheyenne, Wyo., also received a special presidential award for her work as a member of the association.
Ms. Luce is president and owner of the Rocky Mountain Capital Agency of Cheyenne. She serves on the PIA National Board of Directors representing her state, and is president of the PIA Services Inc. board.
G. Baxter Berger was presented with the association's 2002 Company Representative of the Year Award. He is a marketing representative and commercial engineer for the Peninsula Insurance Company, a subsidiary of White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. in Bermuda.
Columbus, Ohio-based Motorists Mutual Insurance Co. was given the 2002 Company Award of Excellence. The company was chosen for its commitment to PIA, to the American Agency System, and for "furthering the interests of and creating a better business environment for independent agents."
The company, which sells personal and commercial property-casualty insurance in five states, was also the recipient of the Indiana PIA 2002 Company of the Year Award, and John Bishop, its chairman, president and chief executive officer, was named Ohio Industry Person the Year by the Ohio PIA.
