NAIC Promotes Fritz And Kelley

NU Online News Service, June 7, 12:25 p.m. EST?The National Association of Insurance Commissioners announced two new major appointments designed to advance its internal management efforts.

NAIC Executive Vice President Catherine J. Weatherford said that Julie Fritz will head a recently created division that will consolidate the NAIC's product-related functions. Ms. Fritz is former application manager for the NAIC's information systems division.

Additionally, Brady Kelley has been promoted to chief financial officer for the NAIC. Mr. Kelley had been serving as director of the NAIC's financial services division. Previously, he was employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he specialized in audits of insurance companies and investment management companies, the NAIC said.

The new division headed by Ms. Fritz combines the NAIC's publications, financial data products, security valuation products and System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF) products, the NAIC said.

"Our new division will be an asset to state regulators and other interested parties since it will provide one-stop shopping for NAIC publications, insurance data and SERFF products," Ms. Weatherford stated.

Ms. Weatherford said Ms. Fritz was instrumental in developing several technology initiatives and a successful marketing plan for the National Insurance Producer Registry, an NAIC affiliate.

As CFO, Mr. Kelley will be responsible for managing the NAIC's accounting department and the preparation of the NAIC's $55.6 million annual consolidated budget. He also will oversee the financial operations of NIPR, Ms. Weatherford said.
