Jack Byrne Returns For NJ Forum

NU Online News Service, June 28, 12:44 p.m. EST?Jack Byrne, the former chief executive officer of GEICO, who supervised the company's exit from New Jersey, will be returning to the state Nov. 8 as the keynote speaker for the Annual New Jersey I-Day in Morristown.

Mr. Byrne, now the CEO of White Mountains Insurance Group, White River Junction, Vt., will appear at a seminar that will feature topics such as Enron, mold damage and subrogation.

The event, at the Westin Hotel, is sponsored by the New Jersey Chapters of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society.

The seminar will feature three educational seminars:

? The Enron Story: What Happened and How to Avoid It, presented by Carol Zacharias and Louis Roberts from CNA, New York.

? Mold 101: Scientific and Underwriting Issues Facing Today's Insurance Professional, presented by Ronald Huggins, director of environmental health for Hydro-Environmental Technologies, Inc. in Acton, Mass., along with an environmental expert to be named later.

? Subrogation: The Big Payback, presented by Patrick C. Timoney and Miles Jellinek from Cozen O'Connor law firm in Philadelphia, and Brian Marx from Chubb Insurance Group, Warren, N.J.

All seminars have been approved for five New Jersey continuing education credits. The seminars will be followed by a luncheon featuring the annual conferment ceremony honoring the new designees who have earned the CPCU designation.

The CPCU Society is a community of credentialed insurance professionals who promote professional excellence through ethical behavior and continuing education. The Society's 30,000 members hold the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

New Jersey I-Day is open to all who would like to attend. The cost is $45 per person for the luncheon and $55 for the seminar. The cost to attend both the luncheon and seminar is $85.
