Institute Adds To Hall Of Fame

NU Online News Service, June 25, 1:28 p.m. EST? The International Insurance Society Inc. said it will induct three new members, one of them posthumously, into its Hall of Fame during the group's annual conference July 15 in Singapore.
This year's inductees are:
? Dr. Aad Jacobs, retired chairman of ING Group, Netherlands. He led the company to become the third largest company on the Dutch Stock Exchange and fifth largest financial institution in Europe.
? Dr. Lutgart Van den Berghe, professor, Ghent University of Belgium and Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Netherlands. She is to be honored for her years of educational work and consulting to the insurance industry.
? Dr. Edison Bowers, professor of economics and insurance, will be honored posthumously for his more than 45 years as an educator. He helped pioneer professional designations and is credited with helping to create the American College of Life Underwriters and the Chartered Life Underwriter designations.
Also to be honored during the meeting will be Dr. Teivo Pentikainen, of Finland, regarded as the father of the Finnish pension insurance system and a specialist in risk theory; Peter Colombo, retired chief executive officer of Union Reinsurance Co. and head of Converium Holding Co., both of Switzerland; and Law Song Keng, group managing director and CEO of Overseas Assurance Corp., Ltd., Singapore.
Linda Bock, executive director of the society based in New York City, said over 110 individuals have been inducted into the Hall of Fame over its more than 38 years of existence.
Hall of Fame honors go to those who have made significant contributions to the insurance industry over the years. They represent all parts of the insurance industry from around the world, she said.
