Surety Group Elects Officers

NU Online News Service May 6, 11:51 a.m. EST?The Surety Association of America announced that Mark C. Vonnahme, president and chief executive officer of CNA Surety Corp., was elected chairman.

The group, which met in Washington last week to select executives for the 2002-2003 term, elected James E. Lee, president and CEO of Old Republic Surety Group, as vice chairman.

Elected as additional members of the Executive Committee were: Gary T. Dunbar, divisional president, bond division, Great American Insurance Companies; and Michael Peters, president, SAFECO Surety. Lynn M. Schubert was elected as president of the Surety Association of America.

Ms. Schubert said the association "looks forward to working closely with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors in this challenging time to advance our common mission: promoting a strong and vital surety industry that helps facilitate economic growth, safeguard the public treasury and protect consumers."

The Surety Association of America is a trade association consisting of over 600 companies that collectively write the majority of surety and fidelity bonds in the United States.
