NU Online News Service, May 9, 3:23 p.m. EST?Five insurers were rated highly in a Connecticut agent's association survey for providing producers with the services, products, technology and support they need to do business.

The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut released a synopsis of the results of a year-long survey that asked member agencies to evaluate individual companies on products and pricing, claims-handling, support for agent's marketing efforts, ease of doing business, technology, and support of the independent agency system.

In a statement, the Hartford, Conn.-based association said Chubb Group, Middlesex Mutual Assurance Co., NLC Insurance Companies, Progressive and SAFECO were "ranked consistently strong, scoring among the top five companies on more than half of the survey's questions."

Approximately 80 agencies participated in the survey, returning a total of 242 evaluation forms. PIACT received an average of 15 evaluations for each of the 16 companies.
