Black Insurance Execs Honored

NU Online News Service, May 1, 3:27 p.m. EST–The One Hundred Black Men Investors Club included leading African-American insurance executives among those it honored with Performance Awards yesterday.
The insurance-industry honorees were:
? Ron Williams, vice president, health operations, Aetna.
? Ernesta Procope, president and chief executive officer, E.G. Bowman Company.
? John Procope, chairman, E.G. Bowman Company.
? Paul Dickstein, president and CEO, Healthfirst.
The club said the awards celebrate the "success of outstanding American companies and African-American business owners and corporate executives who have shown courage, kindness and unselfish character to enhance diversity in the face of adversity."
"The awards show our appreciation of individuals who have acted as pathfinders to foster economic wealth and social gains," said Arthur Lee Kindred, chairman of the One Hundred Black Men Investors Club.
The event was sponsored by Aetna, E.G. Bowman Company, Healthfirst, J.P. Morgan Chase, and One Hundred Black Men Inc.
Founded two years ago, the One Hundred Black Men Investors Club, Inc. is a group consisting of members from One Hundred Black Men, Inc., founded in 1963 by business and professional men to provide scholarships, health, and housing programs to enhance the quality of life for all people.
Group founders included Dr. Kenneth B. Clark, former New York Mayor David N. Dinkins, and J. Bruce Llewellyn.
