RIMS Presents Goodell Award
NU Online News Service, April 15, 2:18 p.m. EST, New Orleans?The Risk and Insurance Management Society presented its top award today to George Daniel Luzzi of Argentina at its annual membership meeting here.
Mr. Luzzi, during proceedings enlivened by bands playing several national anthems, was named the recipient of the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award.
A founding member of the Argentinean Risk Management Association, Mr. Luzzi is director of risk management for Pirelli in Latin America. He is also president of ALARYS, the Latin American seven nation regional confederation.
As a founding member of ALARYS, he negotiated with RIMS to provide start-up money for the first ALARYS conference in Mexico. When money was needed to see the conference through, Mr. Luzzi sold his car to provide a personal loan, according to RIMS.
"His efforts to advance the role of risk managers and his unparalleled international efforts make Luzzi the national recipient of RIMS' highest award for 2002," RIMS said.
