ECS Underwriting Changes Name

NU Online News Service, April 10, 3:52 p.m. EST?ECS Underwriting, Inc., of Exton Pa., a subsidiary of XL Capital Ltd., announced it is changing its name today to XL Environmental, Inc.

William Kronenberg III, chief executive of XL Environmental, said, "The name change to XL Environmental is a sensible and natural progression for ECS. The new name aligns us more closely with the XL Capital Ltd. and it more clearly communicates our environmental risk management expertise."

Nicholas M. Brown Jr., chief executive of XL's insurance operations, said the name change supports the commitment of XL Insurance to providing specialty underwriting expertise to business and industry worldwide."

As of December 31, 2001, XL said it had consolidated assets of approximately $28.0 billion and consolidated shareholders' equity of approximately $5.4 billion.
