Bermuda's Endurance Specialty Holdings says a new Excess Casualty team is joining the insurer.

The specialty insurer and reinsurer says Joseph Rainone has been appointed executive vice president and head on Endurance's new Excess Casualty-E&S insurance unit. He was most recently senior vice president and excess casualty division manager at Alterra Specialty.

“With Joe and his team's extensive knowledge of the E&S market and long-term relationships with producers throughout the U.S., we will be able to quickly grow our current Excess Casualty portfolio,” says Jack Kuhn, CEO of Endurance Global Insurance, in a statement.

Rainone, whose insurance industry career started in 1979, will lead of team of underwriters located in Los Angeles and Atlanta, says Endurance.

Prior to Alterra, Rainone was a senior vice president, in charge of excess and primary lines underwriting access through wholesale brokers, at RSUI Group. He has also held excess casualty and management positions at Chubb, AIG, Liberty Mutual, and Landmark.
