OneBeacon Technology Insurance appinted Mary Fisk-Bieker as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer. Teodor Dhami was named regional vice president of the northeast region. FiskBieker joined OneBeacon in 2010. She has over 25 years of technology experience. Dhami joined OneBeacon in 2011 and has ten years of experience in the technology insurance sector.

The American College announced that Roy Simmons, an associate wealth management advisor at Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management in Columbia, SC, is the first individual in the nation to earn the institution's prestigious Retirement Income Certified Professional designation.

Vertafore promoted Joshua Schmidt to vice president, chief information security officer. Schmidt joined Vertafore in 2008 as director of Information Risk Management. Schmidt has assisted many financial services companies in aligning their information risk management programs with regulatory requirements and international standards.

Mergers & Acquisitions

The Hilb Group acquired Engle, Paxson & Hawthorne Insurance Services. EPH provides residents and business owners in Northern VA, Washington DC and Maryland protections for assets and health. The Hilb Group focuses on acquisitions in the middle market insurance brokerage. The company is headquartered in Richmond, Va. with offices in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland and New York.

Atlas General Insurance Services acquired South Bay Underwriters, LLC, from Bliss & Glennon. On May 1, 2013, this new unit of Atlas will be established under the name “Atlas Specialty Property Division,” and it will focus on difference in conditions insurance. The division will concentrate its efforts on commercial property risks largely comprised of real estate schedules, municipalities, and retail.

New Programs

The ACE Group launched ACE Agribusiness through the integration of Penn Millers Insurance Company in 2011, and the Farm and Ranch division of Rain and Hail Insurance Service purchased in 2010. ACE Agribusiness will provide farm and ranch and specialty property and casualty commercial underwriting products and services to the agriculture market.

Ryan Specialty Group's Sapphire Blue and Lloyd's Catlin Underwriting Agencies Ltd. announced a new liability insurance program for U.S. small rural and specialty hospitals.The program features a risk management component provided by Pendulum, LLC and The Sullivan Group. Coverage is claims made hospital professional liability and claims made or occurrence general liability.

K&K Insurance Group announced enhancements to its franchised powersports dealer program. The program now includes coverage for Segway personal transportation machines.  Package and excess lines of coverage are offered to dealerships who sell approved brands of motorcycle and powersport products including those without motorcycle product sales.

MSO is expanding its specialty businessowners programs they offer to include funeral directors and dry cleaners. This is in addition to programs already available for such exposures as bed and breakfasts, restaurants, self-storage, landlords, condominium owners and home businesses.
