Hiscox Bermuda named Bill Lazzaro as vice president of underwriting. Lazzaro joins from Aon Benfield, where he held a variety of roles over the last nine years.
Thomas M. Boudreau joins The Hartford as vice president of construction insurance. Boudreau will address underwriting and sales for the construction sector, focusing on the needs of midsize and large construction companies. Prior to joining The Hartford, Boudreau worked for AIG.
Amerisafe, Inc. promoted G. Janelle Frost, currently the chief financial officer, to chief operating officer. Frost joined Amerisafe in 1992. Amerisafe also hired Michael Grasher as chief financial officer. Grasher previously worked at Fortegra Financial Corporation. Amerisafe provides workers' compensation insurance focused on small to mid-sized employers, primarily in construction, trucking, manufacturing and agriculture.
The American Insurance Marketing & Sales (AIMS) Society recognized Becky Lathrop, vice president at Optimum Performance Solutions, as the first-ever Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) Facilitator of the Year. AIMS recognized Lathrop's success in teaching CPIA education to independent agency and brokerages. In 2012, Lathrop taught seventeen CPIA classes in Florida, Nebraska and Oregon.
Jamie Macgregor was appointed global senior vice president at Celent, a research and advisory firm, in its insurance practice.
Normandy Harbor Insurance hired J. Ellen Huff as a senior field underwriter. Huff previously worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida affiliate OptaComp, where she held a similar position. Normandy Harbor specializes in workers' compensation insurance and offers plans to select Florida businesses.
Sue Federinko was promoted to senior vice president of Glatfelter Healthcare Practice. Federinko will manage the hospice, home health, home aide, assisted living, skilled care and independent living books of business. She has been with Glatfelter Healthcare Practice for eleven years.

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has partnered with Sesame Workshop, the education nonprofit behind Sesame Street, to launch an early literacy initiative for children. The IICF has pledged $750,000 to Sesame Workshop over a period of three years, starting March 2013 through March 2016 to support this initiative. Read more here.
The Real Time/Download Campaign launched a survey to measure usage of Real Time and download tools by independent agents and brokers. The survey aims to measure progress in implementation and adoption of agent-insurance carrier workflow technology. The survey invites independent agents and brokers to provide ideas on potential changes that could drive even greater agency usage of these tools. The survey is hosted at bit.ly/RT2013 and is estimated to take about seven minutes to complete.
New Programs
Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Exchange (PURE), a policyholder-owned property/casualty insurer that caters to high net worth individuals and families, will begin accepting new policyholders in Colorado in the wake of 2012 natural disasters in the area, such as wildfires. PURE offers members a number of proactive risk management services, including home risk appraisals, thermographic inspections and domestic employee background checks.
The Mechanic Group and Allied World U.S. have partnered to provide primary and excess liability insurance products to private security, electronic security-alarm and investigation firms. This program combines general and professional liability into one convenient policy form.
