The specialty business unit of global broker Willis Group Holdings says it now has an insurance solution for dairy operations.

Willis Programs says DairyProtector is designed for dairy farms with cows producing raw milk for bulk sales, not truckers or creameries.

The programs includes coverage for livestock mortality, auto, crime, property, inland marine, employee benefits, equipment breakdown, business income and umbrella.

Willis apparently sees an underserved market in dairy farms. Matt Sailor, program manager of DairyProtector, says in a statement that carriers are exiting the market or tightening underwriting. But Willis' carrier-partner (a highly-rated insurer, says Willis) for the program “maintains strong capacity and flexibility in engineering covering solutions.”

DairyProtector is available exclusively through independent agents and brokers in select states: Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
