Ames & Gough appointed Eileen Garczynski and Rob Hughes as equity partners of the firm, bringing the total number of active partners to nine. Garczynski was also appointed as a senior vice president of Ames & Gough and will co-lead the Law Firm Practice. Hughs is also a senior vice president of the firm and has served with XL Insurance for more than 10 years in a variety of positions.

David Norris was named president of Hylant's Indianapolis and Bloomington, Ind. offices. Prior to accepting the new position, Norris was Hylant's employee benefits leader for the greater Indianapolis region.

Iron-Starr Excess Agency announced the addition of John Mohs as senior vice president within its Excess Casualty division. He will manage a portfolio of claims-made, occurrence and occurrence-reported business lines focused on the energy sector.

Robert Bentley joined CS STARS (Marsh, Inc.) as president and CEO. He previously served as COO and board member for Risk Management Solutions and also previously spent 17 years with Guy Carpenter as global chief operating officer, Western region manager and head of global analytics.

Ironshore added Jamie R. Lewis as senior vice president, healthcare. Lewis will be responsible for developing Ironshore's healthcare professional liability portfolio in the London market. His industry career includes more than 25 years of service.

John Leonard was re-elected by the ACORD board of directors as the 2013 chair. Lawrence Blakeman was also re-elected as vice-chair. Leonard is president and CEO of Maine Employers' Mutual Insurance Co., where he began in 1993 after a lengthy career with Travelers. Vertafore hired Thomas Enochs to fill the role of senior vice president of operations. He will join the Vertafore executive team and will focus on customer support and professional services as well as the company's data center, enterprise applications and other IT-related functions.

Andrew R. Daniels will strengthen Willis' California operations in his new position as managing partner of Northern Califorina. He will also be responsible for business development across the region, focusing on increasing customer satisfaction, service and retention and more.

Lockton Re made several key hires: George Carrington, James Moss, Carla Moffett and Colin Friend join the London office and bring specialty knowledge of liability products, warranty & idemnity reinsurance, client relationship management, business development, general third party and professional liability. Brian Cole and Anthony Jones join the New York office with a combined 33 years of industry experience.

Julian James was welcomed as president of Allied World's European platform. Among other duties, he will be responsible for the strategic direction and underwriting performance of Allied's European insurance platform.

 

New Programs

Allied World U.S. and The Mechanic Group Inc. agreed to provide primary and excess liability insurance products to security guard, electronic security-alarm, building maintenance, and investigation and intelligence firms as well as schools and security consultants. The program will be available nationwide and deliver a combination of general and professional liability.

CompleteMarket, Insurance Marketing and Management Services' web-based market-finding service, presented a loss of tax credit coverage. The optional endorsement covers low income housing tax credits or recapture of historical rehabilitation tax credits. This protects owners of low income housing or rehabilitated historic buildings from loss of tax credits should the dwelling become inhabitable or lose its historic status.

Amerlnst Professional Services added a security incident and identification theft extension endorsement to its Protexure Accountants' program. The coverage protects small accounting firms and solo practitioners from security threats and unauthorized breaches of data.

Adaptik Corp. released PolicyWriter Customer Manager, an optional component for its PolicyWriter Suite. The component allows underwriters and agents to view complete customer information at a glance and enables carriers to:

  • Easily capture and maintain customer information with Customer Manager
  • Group individual customers through robust householding capabilities
  • Pre-fill policy data based on captured customer data
  • Keep customer data in sync with policy data at all times
  • Integrate with third party systems via the web.

Dual Specialty Underwriters launched an international D&O liability program aimed at foreign companies listed on U.S. securities markets through American Depository Receipts. Dual partnered with Everest Reinsurance Co. to offer the new capacity, which will be chiefly underwritten by Scott Mission.

The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation named three new leadership council members:

  • Darcy Kerr, vice president of human resources for Accident Fund Insurance Co.
  • John Meder, regional managing director of Wells Fargo
  • Michael C. Strakhov, vice president of CNA Property & Casualty Insurance Group's Ohio branch.
