Matthew D. Nichols, president of All Risks, Ltd., was elected to serve as President of the National Assn. of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO). He joined the board in 2005 and has held several positions on it including co-chair of the membership & ethics committee, chair of the international committee and part of the executive committee.

Aon Global Risk Consulting chose Liz Frederick as head of its global insurance-linked securities practice. She will focus on administration and advisory services for ILS products.

Beth Turbitt was hired by ReSource Intermediaries to fill the role of senior vice president. Turbitt has been a consulting borker out of the company's New York office for the past six months and has more than 25 years of industry experience.

The TriCounty Independent Insurance Agents Assn. in Albertson, NY named Donna Doyle, an NBIC employee, Executive of the Year. She joined NBIC in March of 2010 and was cited by the association for 25 years of outstanding service to the industry.

Worldwide Facilities chose Sylvia M. Arno to join its Irvine, Calif. office as senior associate broker and marketing specialist. She has worked as an insurance professional for more than 27 years, including 2 years as an inside broker with R-T Specialty Insurance Services.

Tom Schaffler was named president of Lockton's Chicago operation. He will be responsible for setting the vision and long-term strategies for the broker's risk management and employee benefits business. He succeeds Tom Pluss, who founded the office and served as its president for the past 17 years.

Neace Lukens promoted Todd Stockdale to southern region leader. He will oversee the growth and expansion of Neace Lukens' southern Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina offices. He will also continue in his role as managing director for Neace Lukens' office in New Albany, Ind.

 

Mergers & Acquisitions

Neace Lukens purchased the assets of Lou Crawford & Associates Inc., including those of Downing Insurance, an affiliate of Crawford. The two businesses will continue to operate under their current names. Crawford is located in Bellevue, Ky. and Downing is located in Maysville, Ky. AssuredPartners purchased Neace Lukens last year.

 

New Programs

Allied World U.S. formed a partnership with Venture Underwriters to provide a GL program for commercial contractors. The program is targeted to speciality trade contractors and small general contractors in the Western U.S. and will offer maximum limits of $1 million each occurance, $2 million general aggregate and $2 million products-completed operations hazard aggregate. National Claims Services Inc. will administer to claims.

Aon Risk Solutions will distribute non-practicing entity patent litigation insurance from RPX Corp. in response to the patent risk gap. RPX research attributes the gap to the rising number of patent infringement lawsuits filed by non-practicing entities, referred to as NPEs. The total cost for responding to NPE litigation in 2011 was $29 billion, according to a recent Boston University School of Law study.

Ebix announced a partnership with Silanis in which it will first integrate Silanis' e-signature solution into a new business application process within EbixExchange CRM and then expland the offering to its other platforms. Subscribers will be able to complete annuity and insurance new business immediately instead of waiting for a paper signature from the policy holder. The partnership reflects global demand for improved, streamlined customer experience and the transition to e-signatures within the industry.
