Who is your primary contact at your top insurers? How often are you in contact with them? My primary contacts are mainly regional underwriting managers. I am usually in contact with them 3 to 4 times a week by phone or email and about twice a year we meet up in person.

How did you determine that insurance was a viable career choice? With my father owning an E&S MGA, I was able to see a lot about the business from an early age. I quickly realized that the need for insurance will always be there, making this a very viable industry to be in. I also liked the fact that each account is a little bit different so you're not doing the same thing over and over.

How does technology fit into your work strategy? Technology is a huge part of our business plan. About 45 percent of our total business is generated from our online quoters. We're always looking for new ways to implement technology, whether it's for doing business with our customers or improving efficiency within our office.

What's your mantra for success? I have always liked the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn't matter who gets the credit." This really goes along with our team concept, which I believe helps create a great work environment. When all of us come together with our good ideas, great ones are generated.

What are your future goals in this industry? I hope to continue the success of the company my father started. There are many opportunities out there for growth and I hope to take advantage of them when the time is right.

How does your office reflect how you work? We don't focus on job titles and strongly believe that if it needs doing we will do it. This really creates an environment where everyone pitches in and helps to get things done. If the trash needs to be taken out, you take it out, regardless of what the title on your business card says. This helps breaks down barriers among colleagues and creates a very positive work environment for all.
