Perils, an organization that provides catastrophe-insurance data, says it will begin collecting data on inland flooding in the United Kingdom.

Perils says it will begin collecting loss data on Jan. 1, 2012 for inland-flood events that result in losses of €200 million or more. The data will be made available on April 1.

Luzi Hitz, CEO of Perils, says, “We are grateful for the support of the U.K. primary insurance industry in making this happen and take it as further encouragement to continue to broaden our coverage, both in terms of geography and perils.”

Perils collects loss data from primary insurers across Europe, enabling the organization to produce estimates of market exposure and market loss portfolios.
