Insurance professionals have had more hurled at them over the past 12 months than anyone could have imagined, from the disasters in Japan to
the skyrocketing use and implications of social media when it comes to fraud investigations and claims handling.
Claims excellence can be attributed not only to handling these challenging experiences in the field, but also to exposure and education in more intimate settings. Connecting with potential resources and sharing experiences from across the country can be the difference, which is what makes America's Claims Event (ACE) essential for industry professionals who want to get ahead.
ACE has gone through many modifications during its 15 years, from originally establishing its roots as an educational event to refining its focus on fraud and a wealth of topics relevant in the claims world. This year's event will, of course, feature the presentation of the anticipated Claims Professional of the Year Award on the final day of the conference, highlighting the work of a distinguished leader with a progressive approach to claims handling.
In January, Claims Magazine published an article focusing on four female professionals at the top of the claims world. Its publication, in addition to other events in the industry, is what led to the idea of a female panel at ACE, said Josh Brous, director of programs at Summit Business Media (the parent company to Claims Magazine). This first-ever ACE women's keynote panel, "The Feminine Mystique and Insurance," will feature these four professionals discussing leadership and communication styles in a male-dominated industry. The perspectives of these accomplished women will be illuminating for claims professionals in all stages of their careers, from rookie adjusters attending ACE for the first time to claims vice presidents and other seasoned veterans who may be looking for fresh ways to connect with their team members.
Aside from the informative general sessions and keynote panels, Brous said professionals have two new tracks to explore this year: litigation management and property. Both will feature catastrophe challenges, best practices, maximizing recoveries, and more. The variety of discussions taking place over the three-day period will no doubt keep minds moving as they intertwine with various networking opportunities.
This year's event takes place from June 15 to 17 in New Orleans at the Hilton Riverside. For more information or to register for the conference, visit www.americasclaimsevent.com.
