The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents said it honored three insurance professionals for their service during a recent meeting of its members in Arlington, Va.
Scott M. Harwood, Jr., was named the 2009 PIA National Young Insurance Professional of the Year. He is president of Harwood & Son Insurance, a PIA member agency in Farmville, Va.
Mr. Harwood was honored for his many activities in support of professional insurance agents and his efforts to attract more young people to the insurance industry.
Kelly Godejohn was named the 2009 PIA National Customer Service Representative of the Year. She was honored for her outstanding professionalism as a customer service representative. Ms. Godejohn is employed by A.N. Ansay & Associates of Port Washington, Wis., a PIA member agency.
Mike Grushon, principal of Thomas & Grushon Agency in Bellbrook, Ohio, was named the 2009 Professional Agent of the Year.
Mr. Grushon was honored for his contributions to the insurance industry, the independent agency system and to his PIA colleagues, and his commitment to education, involvement in community affairs and overall success.
He was honored last year by the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Ohio Inc. with a Lifetime Achievement Award and was named Chairman of the Year.
