Christopher F. Murphy has been named chief financial officer for Roseland, N.J.-based wholesale insurance broker Crump Group Inc.'s commercial insurance services division, the company said.
He replaces Patrick O'Brien, who is retiring after 22 years with the company, said Crump.
Mr. Murphy spent most of his career with Marsh & McLennan Companies, beginning in 1979 with Guy Carpenter, MMC's reinsurance brokerage business. He held a number of financial and administrative positions culminating in the role of chief financial officer for Marsh Inc., and as a member of its board of directors and executive committee, before retiring in 2007.
For the past year and a half, Mr. Murphy has worked as an independent consultant assisting and advising insurance brokerage operations on financial issues.
