Avizent, a Columbus, Ohio-based claims and risk management provider, announced the opening of a new regional office in Albany, N.Y. today.

The firm said the facility at 125 Wolf Road is its 40th regional office and it will offer a full array of workers' compensation claims management services to businesses and organizations in New York and New Jersey.

Lori Daugherty, president and CEO of Avizent, said, "Despite the economy, our industry-leading experience, array of services and commitment to our clients has helped our company to continue to thrive."

New York and New Jersey, said Ms. Daugherty, represent some of the company's fastest growing regions. "We are pleased to open a new location that will help us to better meet the needs of our clients, brokers and carriers in this area."

Avizent explained that the new office will handle claims in the Northeast. Previous claims were handled out of the company's Woodbridge, N.J. office.

The firm said it works with some of the region's largest employers providing workers' comp and medical managed care services to insured and self-insured companies.

Steve Elgin, vice president of eastern operations at Avizent, said, "While there are many issues to address in this economy, saving money is really the key challenge for businesses in this region. They are looking to us to come up with ways to control costs on claims, so that more money can go to their bottom line."
