National Underwriter is seeking entries for its third annual "Award For Excellence In Workers' Compensation Risk Management," sponsored by the National Council on Compensation Insurance. NU will spotlight three organizations for their outstanding approach to workers' comp risk mitigation.
Last year's winners were 2008 Champion Service Master, along with Honorable Mentions Walt Disney Company and Select Staffing.
The NU award program is run in cooperation with the Workers' Compensation Educational Conference (at which NU presents a National Trends program) and the Florida Workers' Compensation Institute (which manages the annual WCEC event).
Among the highlights of the award program:
o The risk management programs of all three will be individually profiled in the Aug. 17 edition of NU.
o A representative from the risk management departments of the three winning companies will win a trip to Orlando to attend the WCEC from Aug. 16-19.
o The winners will also share the secrets of their success at a special "NU Roundtable" during the WCEC on Aug. 18, with highlights printed in our Oct. 19 edition.
Risk managers are invited to submit their own programs for consideration by May 11.
In addition, agents and brokers as well as insurance carriers are welcome to nominate worthy candidates for the award, with outside nominations due by April 7. NU will contact the organization nominated and invite them to go through the award process.
A third-party nomination is not required, however, for a firm to enter their program for consideration. Nominations are only invited to call NU's attention to worthy candidates.
To receive more detailed instructions and an entry form, or if you have any questions about the award program, e-mail NU Editor In Chief Sam Friedman at sfriedman@nuco.com.
Good luck!
