Three law enforcement groups announced a seminar will be held next month on heavy equipment theft.

The meeting, on Aug. 26 in Fort Myers, Fla., is aimed at insurance agents and brokers; special investigation unit members; equipment owners, dealers, auctioneers or rental agents; and insurance adjusters and underwriters.

FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, National Insurance Crime Bureau and National Equipment Register said the Lee County Sheriff's Office will host the event.

The groups said a general session will examine the equipment theft problem, recovery challenges and solutions, and explore the growing problem of construction and agricultural equipment theft, the challenges that hinder equipment recovery and the latest equipment security technologies.

Break-out classes are scheduled to provide law enforcement with instruction in equipment identification training while equipment owners and insurers explore theft prevention strategies and how to increase the chances of recovering stolen equipment.

The event is being held at the Crowne Plaza, 13051 Bell Tower Drive, Fort Myers, with registration badge pick-up from 8.30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Those interested in attending are asked to provide the National Equipment Register with name, agency or company and contact details by Aug, 21. NER can be reached at (866) 663-7872 or info@NERusa.com.

Registration is free for law enforcement, equipment owners, and NICB, ISO and NER member insurers.
