American International Group Inc. wasted little time today naming Alexander R. Baugh as managing director of AIG UK Limited, replacing Dan Glaser, who left to head Marsh brokerage.
Mr. Glaser was announced today as the new chairman and chief executive officer of Marsh.
Mr. Baugh will also serve as regional president of AIG's United Kingdom/Ireland Division. He will be responsible for the general insurance operations of American International Underwriters (AIG's international property-casualty insurance organization) in the United Kingdom and Ireland, based in London.
AIU is AIG's international property-casualty insurance organization. Mr. Baugh joined AIU in 1983 as a financial lines underwriter. He subsequently held a succession of positions with AIU in New York, London and Paris and was most recently president of AIG Europe, S.A., and president of AIU's continental European region.
Mr. Baugh has also held various positions in AIG's domestic brokerage group. Replacing Mr. Baugh is Julio A. Portalatin. A senior vice president, he was named president of AIG Europe, S.A., and president of AIU's continental European region. He will be based in Paris.
Jose A. Hernandez, who is currently chief operating officer of AIU's accident & health division, will succeed Mr. Portalatin.
