As part of its ongoing "road show," the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) has scheduled a captive owner roundtable luncheon, seminars and reception on Feb. 8 in Houston, Texas, and Feb. 22 in Boston.

Both events, which can earn attendees one CPE/CLE credit, will include a Captives 101 seminar that will focus on the basics of captive insurance companies, the reasons for forming a captive, the feasibility process and key issues in putting a successful captive program together, according to VCIA.

Houston sessions will include a seminar titled "Strategic Advantages of Captive Insurance."

VCIA said the discussion will include cost structures associated with captives and capital requirements. A brief overview of the Vermont domicile is also part of the program.

Panelists scheduled for the Houston session are Brady Young, SRS captive management; Daniel Towle, Vermont Department of Economic Development; and Thomas McDonald III, Brown Brothers Harriman. The Houston meeting will take place at the Westin Galleria, 5060 West Alabama.

In Boston, a Strategic Advantages panel will include one of Vermont's chief captive insurance regulators and a trio of veteran captive owners, VCIA said.

VCIA said admission is free but seating is limited. Information and registration for both events is available online--by Feb. 1 for Houston--at www.vcia.com or 802-658-8242.
