Argonaut Group, a specialty insurance organization in San Antonio, announced today that 30-year insurance veteran Gregory M. Vezzosi has joined the group as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Mr. Vezzosi will report to Mark E. Watson III, president and chief executive officer, who noted in a press statement that Mr. Vezzosi's prior experience has mainly been with large specialty operations.
Before joining Argonaut, Mr. Vezzosi served as senior vice president of specialty commercial for St. Paul Travelers. Prior positions included underwriting management and branch executive management roles at Chubb & Son–where he spent 20 years–and executive management roles at Royal & SunAlliance in Charlotte, N.C.
At Argonaut, Mr. Watson said, Mr. Vezzosi will seek to expand the group's portfolio of specialty products and services. Mr. Vezzosi will also focus on improving the quality and technology associated with the services delivered to clients, Mr. Watson added.
Mr. Vezzosi is the first COO that Argonaut has had since Mr. Watson led the transformation of the group from a California workers' compensation insurer to a national underwriter of niche specialty insurance products, which began in 2000.
