According to recent State Farm claim data, deer-related vehicle collisions have risen almost six percent from last year.
The company's recently released statistics show that its policyholders were involved in 192,877 deer-related collisions from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, compared to the 182,458 collisions reported from the previous year. The average property damage loss also increased, with average claims topping $2,800, a growth of almost 11 percent from last year.
State Farm said that ten states accounted for 51 percent of all deer-collision claims filed by its policyholders. Adjusters, be warned: Deer collisions become more frequent during the fall and winter due to the deer migration and mating season, which occurs most prominently from October through December.
