Groups Offer Free Terror-Risk Management Tools
NU Online News Service, May 27, 3:58 p.m. EDT?Two California companies are offering free Web-based interactive tools to assist risk managers and their companies in evaluating terrorism risks and improving their emergency response plans.
ABD Insurance and Financial Services, a Redwood City, Calif.-based provider of risk management and employee benefits solutions, said it is offering, free of charge, an interactive questionnaire for risk managers to help evaluate their state of preparedness and awareness.
The company is also offering additional online tools, including tips on terrorism insurance protection and a guide on emergency management, as well as measures to minimize the exposure from terror attacks.
Additionally, Syntrio, a San Francisco-based provider of Web-based training systems, said it is offering free online access to its "Incident Command System" Web course for the next 30 days.
This course, the company suggested, could help risk managers and their companies to improve their emergency response teams and minimize "chaos and confusion" during emergency events.
These offerings, said Douglas Page, vice president of business development at Syntrio, are designed as a public service to help companies learn how best to react during potential catastrophic events.
"So companies could better understand how their employees should respond--what they should do, what everyone's role is. It assists employees to better understand the chain of command during catastrophic events," Mr. Page told National Underwriter.
