S&P Launches Online Insurance Data Portal
NU Online News Service, April 3, 3:52 p.m. EST?Standard & Poor's Ratings Services announced today it has launched a new online insurance database for industry professionals.
Called "ClassicDirect," the portal offers Web-based access to more than 4,000 insurer financial strength ratings and research and financial data from S&P, including latest rating actions. The database covers all sectors in the industry, including property-casualty, life, reinsurers, health plans and mortgage insurers.
Other features include insurers' financial data from the past five years, rating histories, ownership details and additional related articles, S&P said.
The new data portal, the New York-based ratings agency added, is designed to assist insurance industry professionals make informed decisions about the global insurance market.
Rowena Potter, a credit analyst at S&P, called ClassicDirect "the ideal source for monitoring insurers, offering all Standard & Poor's insurance ratings and research in one place. Its advanced functionality means that data can be customized to suit an individual's requirements, while the query tool allows for advanced data manipulation by the user."
