NU Online News Service, April 22, 3:53 p.m. EDT?Insurers who subscribe to Insurance Services Office will be able to channel more safety and loss control information to their policyholders and agent brokers from ISO data banks, the company announced.
Jersey City, N.J.-based ISO said the additional information will be available as a new feature of its Engineering and Safety Service database service.
William Hauswirth, ISO vice president, said for an additional charge, subscribers to its E&S database can make its information available to their policyholders, agents and brokers through their company extranets.
Commenting on ISO's new Enterprise Subscription Service, Mr. Hauswirth said, "Companies have extranet sites that they make available to their largest policyholders and agents and brokers. Insurers can now use their extranet sites to provide an easy access to E&S safety and loss-control information to their clients."
Previously, the E&S safety and loss-control database was accessible only to some 360 subscribed insurers' loss control and underwriting staff, but it's now going to be accessible to policyholders and agent brokers, Mr. Hauswirth told National Underwriter.
He said the change "will help companies make available more safety and loss-control information to those who need it. It provides another resource for their clients."
Safeco Corporation is the first insurer to purchase the new service and make the E&S database of loss-control and risk-management information available to independent agents serving commercial accounts, Mr. Hauswirth said,
There are several more subscribers who are also planning to add on this feature soon, Mr. Hauswirth said.
ISO has been aggressive about expanding its online technology this year. Last month, it bought assets of AscendantOne, a developer of insurance policy management and insurance rating software applications. Also in March, ISO enhanced its ClaimSearch services by adding the capability for customers to order and receive medical records online, through an agreement with MediConnect.net Inc., a Utah-based technology company.
