IIABA Honors Members Political Efforts

NU Online News Service, April 4, 1:48 p.m. EST ? An Iowa agent's and a Pennsylvania agent's associations were honored by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America this week for their work in government affairs.

Agent Robert E. Fulwider, the immediate past chairman of the Alexandria, Va.-based IIABA's government affairs committee and a current executive committee member, received the Sidney O. Smith Award during the association's Annual National Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

The award is given to an individual agent or broker for outstanding service to his or her peers and the national association in the field of government affairs.

Mr. Fulwider is principal and executive vice president of the Ray Wuestenberg Agency Inc. of West Liberty, Iowa, and principal and executive vice president of the Fulwider Agency Inc. of West Branch, Iowa. He also is president of Bob Fulwider and Associates, a life and health financial planning agency in Eastern Iowa.

The Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania received the Maurice G. Herndon National Legislative Award. It was given in recognition of the association's legislative work that the IIABA and its members found most outstanding.

The Pennsylvania association was honored for its effectiveness in representing its members' interests before the state's legislature and the active role it took in IIABA's overall government affairs program and InsurPac, the association's political action committee.
