Fiona Luck Named APIW Woman Of The Year

NU Online News Service, April 4, 2:34 p.m. EST?The Association of Professional Insurance Women announced it has selected Fiona Luck of XL Capital as this year's recipient of the APIW Insurance Woman of the Year Award.

Ms. Luck is vice president of group operations and assistant secretary at XL. A veteran of the insurance industry with more than 20 years of experience, she is currently the highest-ranking woman executive at XL and is a member of its executive management board, the association noted.

"Fiona is a role model for women professionals and possesses serious responsibility for furthering the equal status of women in the workplace," said Madeline Lichtman, president of APIW. "We are thrilled to bestow this honor on her."

Before joining Hamilton, Bermuda-based XL in 1999, Ms. Luck had also worked with ACE Limited in Bermuda as senior vice president of financial lines. Previously, she was a managing director at New York-based Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. and headed its global brokerage operations in Bermuda.

The Association of Professional Insurance Women is a New York-based group dedicated to the advancement of women in the insurance industry. It currently has more than 300 members. The group's award, first presented in 1976, recognizes women with outstanding achievements in the industry.
