Baseball Great, Ripken To Appear At CPCU Confab
NU Online News Service April 9, 11:46 a.m. EDT?The Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society said Cal Ripken Jr., the retired, record-setting Orioles shortstop, will speak to them on the principles of success.
The baseball legend, CPCU said, will give the keynote address Oct. 13 at its upcoming annual meeting and seminars Oct. 11-14 in the New Orleans Marriott.
Malvern, Pa.-based CPCU said in Mr. Ripken's talk, "The Keys to Success," he will share his perspective on the attributes that lead to success in both sports and business, and follow his presentation with a question and answer session.
During his Major League Baseball career Mr. Ripken played in 2,632 consecutive games, breaking the record established by Lou Gehrig for most consecutive games played at 2,130.
CPCU said the New Orleans meeting theme is "Jazz Up Your Career" and besides Mr. Ripken's appearance it will feature two educational tracks. One track is a property-casualty round of seminars about current industry issues that provides continuing education credits.
Another leadership and career development track features educational seminars geared toward developing personal and professional success, CPCU said.

According to the Society, more than 27,000 members hold the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation. Qualifying as a CPCU involves passing undergraduate- and graduate-level examinations, meeting experience requirements, and agreeing to be bound by a professional ethics code. The designation is conferred by the American Institute for CPCU.
