New Unit Set At W.R. Berkley
NU Online News Service, Sept. 17, 10:45 a.m. EST?W. R. Berkley Corp. has announced the formation of an underwriting management group, B F Re Underwriters, LLC, to specialize in the underwriting of casualty facultative reinsurance.
William R. Berkley, chairman and chief executive officer of the Greenwich, Conn.-based company, said in a statement that B F Re Underwriters, LLC, would be separate from the company's Facultative ReSources Inc. and would have no affect on current clients and producers it serves.
He said the two programs would have distinctive client bases and marketing strategies. Facultative Resources writes individual risks and programs for both casualty and property businesses, according to the company's Web site.
Daniel L. Avery was named president of B F Re. The company said Mr. Avery has 27 years experience in casualty reinsurance and was most recently director of casualty facultative reinsurance at Gerling Global Reinsurance Corporation of America in New York City.
