VCIA Offers Interactive Seminar
NU Online News Service, Feb. 22, 3:06 p.m. EST?An interactive seminar titled Coverages, Capacity, Creativity: Using your Captive in the Current Reinsurance Marketplace is being offered by the Vermont Captive Insurance Association.
The event is scheduled for March 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, at the Radisson Hotel, Burlington, Vt.
The panel, organized by VCIA's professional education division, includes Kate Westover, Captive Advisory Services; John Coppinger, Odyssey Re; and Joyce A. Webb, Aon Re Worldwide. VCIA said arrangements can be made for education credits.
VCIA said the session will begin with an overview of reinsurance fundamentals.
Panelists will discuss the current state of the reinsurance marketplace, covering issues such as where new capacity will come from; how it can it be accessed; what coverages commercial reinsurers do not want to reinsure; and how to coordinate captive capacity and coverage needs with the appetites of reinsurers in the current reinsurance marketplace.
The final part of the session, the association said, will consist of case studies, which panelists will employ to demonstrate when to use captives in the purchase of reinsurance,.
The association said it recommends the seminar for anyone who has a captive or is thinking about establishing a captive.
