The Pennsylvania Supreme Court heard arguments over whether state law prohibits UM/UIM policies from excluding coverage for vehicles a policyholder regularly uses but does not own or insure.
"In order to hold in the manner in which you're arguing we would have to read 'purchase' to mean any change in coverage," said Justice Christine Donohue, who sits on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court bench.
Both cases in this appeal were based on policy language that excluded UM coverage for pedestrians struck by a hit-and-run vehicle because a pedestrian, by definition, cannot occupy a covered vehicle.
Much like a Mastercard Black Card, policies for high-value homes come with perks such as no-cost home inspections and employment practice liability options.
