Amazing as it may seem, it's sometimes easy to forget that it is America's independent agents whom we largely have to thank for facilitating millions of transactions per year, helping citizens and businesspeople alike secure the proper insurance protections.
These agencies of hardworking men and women throughout the U.S., from the smallest shops to the largest multi-line businesses, are the backbone of the P&C industry and do an immense service to the greater economy; for as we all know, nothing happens without insurance.
Therefore, it's only fitting that NU institute an awards program honoring the top independent agencies. In this series of profiles, we feature four agencies representing a cross-section of independent operations nationwide, all with a unique story to tell and demonstrating best practices well worth sharing with their peers.
Whether it's crafting coverage for clients; illustrating the strength and variety in their books of business; maintaining solid carrier relationships; processing claims; adopting new technology to accelerate processes; or giving back to communities that they serve, the agencies profiled here all exhibit qualities that every agency should strive to possess.
On a side note, the number of entries we received for this cover feature far exceeded our expectations — and the judging process was by no means easy.
