St. Louis-based risk funding products provider Safety National said it has acquired an undisclosed excess and surplus company that will begin operations in March as Safety Specialty Insurance Co. The new unit will offer law enforcement liability, public officials liability and educators legal liability coverage.

The Paris-based nonprofit financial services association Efma and Dublin-based professional services giant Accenture said they have created the “Innovation in Insurance” awards program to identify and award innovative insurance initiatives and projects around the world. Efma is inviting insurers to apply from now through April 18. Winners will be recognized at an award ceremony in Milan on June 9 during Efma’s Insurance Summit gala dinner.
