In 1937, aviation legend Amelia Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe. Earhart, the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, was an aviation pioneer, inspiring many others with her passion for flying and her bold (and brave) career.

Earhart’s flight around the globe, known as “The Amelia Project,” is sponsored by Lockton Cos., who will insure both Earhart and her aircraft as she embarks on this historic flight. Now, more than 75 years later, her namesake—Amelia Rose Earhart of Denver, Colo.—is gearing up for her own flight around the world. Though she is not a blood relative of the late Amelia Earhart, Amelia Rose Earhart shares her namesake’s passion for flight and her wish to encourage other young women to take an interest in flight and aviation.
