New Hires and Promotions at Vertafore, Norman-Spencer, SPARTA, Sterling and More - Around the Industry

Interstate Restoration acquired InStar, AmWINS acquired Gresham & Associates. New programs from Allied World, Victor O. Schinnerer & Co., NIP Programs, Philadelphia, Euclid Specialty Managers and The Main Street America Group.

People & Places

Disabled Veterans Insurance Careers appointed Gary Bryant president and CEO. Bryant served as an Army Aviator during his 20 years of active military duty. After retirement from active duty, he has served as and been elected to several leadership positions with ROTC, the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged, Florida Assoc. of Community Transportation Systems, Military Officers Assoc. of America and more. He was previously president and CEO at Good Wheels Inc., a position that will be filled by Tom Nolan.

Carol Nevin joined United States Surety Co. (USSC), a member of HCC Insurance Holdings Inc., as president. She has worked for USSC for 16 years and has more than 25 yeaers of surety industry experience.

The Norman-Spencer Agency announced T. Clarke Smith III as its new president of Marine Operations. Smith has 25 years of experience in marine insurance underwriting; he will direct the marine division, which offers the First MArine and AquaPac programs for the recreational marine and boat yacht insurance markets.

Mario Chiappetti was hired by SPARTA Insurance Co. to fill the role of senior vice president of professional lines. Most recently, Chiappetti was vice president of marketing for Everest National Insurance Co. He will help reinforce SPARTA's commitment to being an industry leader in the professional lines marketplace.

Sterling Ascend Insurance Resources named Frank Jorgenson vice president & sales executive of the insurance brokerage. Jorgenson previously worked as a commercial insurance broker for Grant-Hatch & Associates for the past 15 years.

Harry Snyder was appointed vice president of mobile strategy and innovation with Vertafore. Prior to joining Vertafore he founded FinancePro, which was acquired by AMS, later becoming Vertafore. He will focus on SaaS mobile product development.

Munich Re's Supervisory Board welcomes Bernd Pischetsrieder, who will succeed the retiring Hans-Jurgen Schinzler as chairman. Pischetsrieder will apply to the Munich local court to appoint Ann-Kristin Achleitner to complete the board.  

 

Mergers & Acquisitions

Interstate Restoration acquired InStar's national operations platform and sales team. InStar is a provider of emergency restoration services. The acquisition allows Interstate to offer improved service by combining two operating platforms and expanding its national presence to include the East Coast.

AmWINS Group Inc. reached an agreement to acquire Gresham & Associates Inc. Gresham was established in 1979 as a managing general agets and wholesale brokerage. It is currently ranked by Business Insurance as the sixth-largest MGA in the United States. The partnership gives AmWINS enhanced distribution and the ability to deepen relationships both firms have built with clients and carrier partners.

 

New Program

Allied World U.S. and Alteris Insurance Services Inc. will provide a comprehensive coverage program to wineries in the U.S. called WinePlus. The program will be available to wineries of all sizes nationwide but will specifically target California, New York, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Program coverages will include:

  • Property
  • GL
  • Automobile liability
  • Excess liability
  • Cyber liability
  • Employment practices liability
  • Professional liability.

Victor O. Schinnerer & Co. Inc. launched a real estate E&O policy form that will provide additional coverage enhancements for real estate professionals. Coverages include:

  • Privacy response
  • Discriminatio
  • Bodily injury
  • Property damage coverage for lockbox claims
  • Open house property damage
  • Free extended reporting period and more.

NIP Programs introduced MenuPro, a business insurance program targeting owners and operators of family, casual and fine dining establishments. The program offers standard coverages as well as optional enhancements such as:

  • Liquor liability
  • Equipment coverage
  • Employment Practices Liability Insurance
  • Umbrella Liability
  • Workers' Comp.

Philadelphia Insurance Cos. unveiled coverage designed to protect restoration contractors. The companies are hired to clean up and restore property following a fire, flood or other damage. The product is available in all states except Louisiana. Coverages include:

  • GL
  • Property
  • Auto
  • Environmental
  • Crime and fidelity
  • Inland marine
  • Bailees.

The Main Street America Group created a commercial product line, featuring its Main Line Business Owners Policy (Main Line BOP) to a select number of independent agents representing Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance Co. throughout Mississippi. These agents can also access the company's workers' comp, commercial umbrella and new tiered commercial auto products. Main Line BOP offers standard coverages as well as an additional 50 such as business income/ordinary payroll coverage for up to 12 months and generous money and securities coverage.

Euclid Specialty Managers introduced the new Euclid Vanguard Fiduciary Liability policy, revised to meet the needs of modern trustees. The new policy includes coverage enhancements for fiduciaries of multiemployer and governmental employee benefit plans. Key features include:

  • Cyber Essentials coverage
  • Amara surcharge coverage
  • Expanded penalty coverage
  • Coverage for benefit miscalculations
  • Euclid's "Penalty Box," an umbrella of coverage to expand protection when the sublimit is exhausted.
