Foremost Adds Business Insurance to Portfolio in 2013

Beginning January 2013, Foremost Insurance Group is adding business insurance to its portfolio of products.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based insurer known primarily in the specialty-lines insurance market is a part of the Farmers Insurance Group. Both are subsidiaries of Zurich Financial Services Group.

Foremost, which is dedicated to the independent-producer distribution system, says Zurich North America is ending its Zurich Small Business program and is working with Foremost to offer small-business policyholders and agents an opportunity to be a part of the program at Foremost.

"The addition of Business insurance makes Foremost a market leader with a versatile product line and easy-to-use systems and processes for independent producers," said Mark Testa, head of Business insurance, independent agency sales and distribution.

The addition of Business insurance to the Foremost portfolio allows the company to offer its producers, and in turn their customers, over 600 classes of business under one brand, the company says. Foremost also offers a single-quote engine and many other resources for independent producers.

“Foremost is focused on helping independent producers grow their business and offering more tools to help them sell," adds Testa.

Starting in 2013 Foremost will begin to roll out Business Owners Policies, Employment Practices Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation and Umbrella. New business will be phased nationally with the a roll-out for renewals following. The transition process will be completed by 2015, says Foremost.
