A series of tornadoes is threatening the Dallas-Ft. Worth area with a report of at least one touching down in the Dallas area.

According to the Associated Press, video footage shows an overturned and smashed semi-tractor trailer on the ground in the Southern portion of Dallas County.

The Weather Channel broadcasted footage of a pile of tractor trailer trucks in the middle of what appeared to be a trailer yard that was flooded.

One report says there has been “considerable damage” in one town near Ft. Worth,Texas.

The Insurance Council of Texas early today says McAllen, Texas was recovering from hurricane-force winds, heavy rain and hail the size of baseballs on Thursday night. The damage is expected to be in the tens of millions of dollars.

Damages included air conditioning units being blown out of businesses, and hail that broke windows on vehicles, homes and commercial property, ICT reports. The hail accumulated to 4-foot drifts in some spots.

Television reports showed heavy black skies over the city and there were reports of power outages.

Officials said they had no information on injuries at this time.

Twitter is buzzing with information posted by weather services, journalists and insurers. The Weather Channel used the social media platform to announce numerous tornado warnings and when a where a tornado touched down.

"A tornado has been reported in Forney, Texas in Kaufman County on the east side of Dallas, take shelter now," writes Weather Underground on Twitter.

Nationwide says, "Tornadoes struck Dallas-Ft. Worth Nationwide & Allied customers w/damage: Call our claims hotline @ 1-800-421-3535, or contact your agent."

"Large hail reported in Coppell, Euless and Irving along with tornadoes," reports Mark Hanna, spokesman with the ICT, on Twitter.

Ben Berkowitz, reporter with Reuters, tweets, "Dallas County dispatch advises 'massive damage on the south side." No further details immediately available," and "Live Dallas County fire, sheriffs and constable dispatch: schools not releasing children yet, more bad weather coming."
