The Main Street America Group announced that Steve Peeters has been promoted to senior vice president and will head its product operations function.
Peeters will continue to report to Tom Van Berkel, chairman, president and CEO, and remain based at the company's corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla.
During the first six months of 2010, Main Street America generated $453 million in net written premiums, an 8.2 percent gain versus the same period in 2009. Its commercial lines business, led by Peeters, achieved a very profitable 88.5 combined ratio. Commercial lines accounts for 55 percent of the company's total written premium.
Main Street America's product operations group includes assumed reinsurance, bonds, commercial lines, personal lines and pricing.
Peeters joined Main Street America in Feb. 2010 from Jacksonville-based Zurich Insurance Services, where he was president and COO.
