Furby Named Head of ACE International P&C Insurance

The ACE Group of insurance and reinsurance companies announced David Furby as division president, Commercial Property & Casualty, for the company's overseas general operations.

As division president, Mr. Furby will be responsible for developing the company's commercial property and casualty insurance business outside of North America, including financial lines and energy and marine product lines.

He will also be responsible for the reinsurance ACE purchases for its international operations.

Mr. Furby first joined ACE in 1996 and has previously served as treaty underwriter for Syndicate 219 and director of Reinsurance for Syndicate 2488 at ACE Global Markets.

He has also served as president and chief executive officer of ACE Tempest Re Group in Bermuda as well as Corporate Reinsurance officer. In 2005, he became president of ACE Continental Europe, the position he currently holds.

ACE said that Mr. Furby will be based in New York.

Additionally, the company announced that, subject to regulatory approval, Joseph Clabby will succeed Mr. Furby as president of ACE Continental Europe.

Mr. Clabby joined ACE in 2001 and is currently president of Regional Operations for ACE USA.

He will be responsible for growing and developing ACE's insurance business in 18 countries across the continent of Europe.

The company said that Mr. Clabby will be based in Paris and will report to Andrew Kendrick, chairman and chief executive officer of ACE European Group.
