Baxter Receives NYIA's Distinguished Service Award

Robert B. Baxter, CEO and general manager of Dryden Mutual Insurance Company, has been awarded the New York Insurance Association Inc.'s (NYIA) 2010 Chair's Distinguished Service Award.

Mr. Baxter received the award at NYIA's annual conference in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Mr. Baxter has served on NYIA's board of directors for the past six years.

He has worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years and has been CEO of N.Y.-based Dryden Mutual Insurance Company--a commercial and personal insurer--for the past 16 years.

Additionally, Mr. Baxter is a trustee of the New York Insurance Scholarship Foundation Inc, a foundation affiliated with NYIA that is dedicated to ensuring the future of the insurance industry by supporting students studying the business of insurance.

He also founded and operated a series of high school insurance classes in Tompkins County, N.Y., through the InVEST program, which is designed to attract new talent to the insurance industry.

Mr. Baxter is involved in the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York; the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York; the Insurance Information Institute; the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies; the Professional Insurance Agents of CT, NJ and NY; and the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America.

He was previously a commissioned officer and later a captain in the United States Air Force.
