When discussing going green at insurance companies, financial concerns are not at the forefront. Green initiatives generally are viewed as a rationale for investment in the data center, particularly where they increase long-term viability of an aging data center. While companies may not intentionally invest in green technology, some initiatives such as virtualization inherently have reduced energy demands. Most companies, however, are reluctant to move forward with green initiatives without a strong argument the project will save money or at least be cost neutral.
