On the heels of an investigation of numerous consumer complaints about "fax blasts" of unsolicited health insurance coverages, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has issued an Order to 12 entities. The Order notifies the entities and their officers that the OIR will issue a Final Order to Cease and Desist from engaging in unauthorized transaction of insurance in the state. The policies being marketed were for unauthorized limited benefit health plans. Recipients of the Order have 21 days to challenge OIR's action.
The entities are: Beema-Pakistan Co., LTD; Serve America Assurance, LTD; William Worthy II; Real Benefits Association; David L. Clark; Affinity Group Benefits Association, Inc.; American Trade Association, Inc.; Smart Data Solutions, LLC; SDS Management Group; Bart Posey; Richard Bachman; Obed Kirkpatrick.
