FAIA's McCord Passes

The Florida Association of Insurance Agents is mourning the passing of one of its long-time members and a former recipient of the association's Mitchell Stallings Memorial Award.

Robert A. McCord was part of one of the state's oldest insurance families. His father, L.P. McCord was the FAIA's chair dating back to 1936-1947, and his son is R. Alan McCord, Jr. Robert was the secretary of the Jacksonville Insurers' Association for 10 years before moving to the position of president in 1958. He also served as FAIA president in 1964 and as the state national director from 1968 to 1972. He was a World War II veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and spent several years as a German prisoner of war.

McCord is credited for many achievements in the areas of legislation and agent regulation and will be sorely missed.
